中國共產黨第十九次全國代表大會（the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China）于18日上午9點在人民大會堂開幕。習近平代表第十八屆中央委員會向黨的十九大作報告。

　　習近平指出，大會的主題是：

　　不忘初心，牢記使命，高舉中國特色社會主義偉大旗幟，決勝全面建成小康社會，奪取新時代中國特色社會主義偉大勝利，為實現中華民族偉大復興的中國夢不懈奮斗。

　　Remain true to our original aspiration and keep our mission firmly in mind, hold high the banner of socialism with Chinese characteristics, secure a decisive victory in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, strive for the great success of socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era, and work tirelessly to realize the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.

　　報告提出了四個重要概念：

　　1.中國特色社會主義進入了新時代

　　經過長期努力，中國特色社會主義進入了新時代，這是我國發展新的歷史方位。

　　With decades of hard work, socialism with Chinese characteristics has crossed the threshold into a new era. This is a new historic juncture in China's development.

　　2.我國社會主要矛盾已經轉化

　　中國特色社會主義進入新時代，我國社會主要矛盾已經轉化為人民日益增長的美好生活需要和不平衡不充分的發展之間的矛盾。

　　As socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era, the principal contradiction facing Chinese society has evolved. What we now face is the contradiction between unbalanced and inadequate development and the people's ever-growing needs for a better life.

　　3.新時代中國特色社會主義思想

　　新時代中國特色社會主義思想明確了以下幾點內容：

　　The Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era makes certain things clear:

　　新時代中國特色社會主義思想明確堅持和發展中國特色社會主義，總任務是實現社會主義現代化和中華民族偉大復興，在全面建成小康社會的基礎上，分兩步走在本世紀中葉建成富強民主文明和諧美麗的社會主義現代化強國；

　　It makes clear that the overarching goal of upholding and developing socialism with Chinese characteristics is to realize socialist modernization and national rejuvenation, and, on the basis of finishing the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects, a two-step approach should be taken to build China into a great modern socialist country that is prosperous, strong, democratic, culturally advanced, harmonious, and beautiful by the middle of the century.

　　明確中國特色社會主義事業總體布局是“五位一體”、戰略布局是“四個全面”，強調堅定道路自信、理論自信、制度自信、文化自信；

　　It makes clear that the overall plan for building socialism with Chinese characteristics is the five-sphere integrated plan, and the overall strategy is the four-pronged comprehensive strategy. It highlights the importance of fostering stronger confidence in the path, theory, system, and culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics.

　　4.社會主義現代化強國

　　綜合分析國際國內形勢和我國發展條件，從二〇二〇年到本世紀中葉可以分兩個階段來安排。

Based on a comprehensive analysis of the international and domestic environments and the conditions for China's development, we have drawn up a two-stage development plan for the period from 2020 to the middle of this century.

　　? 第一個階段，從二〇二〇年到二〇三五年，在全面建成小康社會的基礎上，再奮斗十五年，基本實現社會主義現代化。

　　In the first stage from 2020 to 2035, we will build on the foundation created by the moderately prosperous society with a further 15 years of hard work to see that socialist modernization is basically realized.

　　? 第二個階段，從二〇三五年到本世紀中葉，在基本實現現代化的基礎上，再奮斗十五年，把我國建成富強民主文明和諧美麗的社會主義現代化強國。

　　In the second stage from 2035 to the middle of the 21st century, we will, building on having basically achieved modernization, work hard for a further 15 years and develop China into a great modern socialist country that is prosperous, strong, democratic, culturally advanced, harmonious, and beautiful.

　　2．行百里者半九十。中華民族偉大復興，絕不是輕輕松松、敲鑼打鼓就能實現的。

　　As the Chinese saying goes, the last leg of a journey just marks the halfway point. Achieving national rejuvenation will be no walk in the park; it will take more than drum beating and gong clanging to get there. Every one of us in the Party must be prepared to work even harder toward this goal.

　　3．世界上沒有完全相同的政治制度模式，政治制度不能脫離特定社會政治條件和歷史文化傳統來抽象評判，不能定于一尊，不能生搬硬套外國政治制度模式。

　　No two political systems are entirely the same, and a political system cannot be judged in abstraction without regard for its social and political context, its history, and its cultural traditions. No one political system should be regarded as the only choice; and we should not just mechanically copy the political systems of other countries.

　　4．絕不允許以言代法、以權壓法、逐利違法、徇私枉法。

　　No one in a position of power is allowed in any way to override the law with his own orders, place his authority above the law, violate the law for personal gain, or abuse the law.

　　5．人民有信仰，國家有力量，民族有希望。

　　When a people have ideals, their country will have strength, and their nation will have a bright future. 

　　6．堅持房子是用來住的、不是用來炒的定位。

　　We must not forget that housing is for living in, not for speculation. 

　　7．青年興則國家興，青年強則國家強。青年一代有理想、有本領、有擔當，國家就有前途，民族就有希望。

　　A nation will prosper only when its young people thrive; a country will be full of hope and have a great tomorrow only when its younger generations have ideals, ability, and a strong sense of responsibility.

　　8．強化不敢腐的震懾，扎牢不能腐的籠子，增強不想腐的自覺，通過不懈努力換來海晏河清、朗朗乾坤。

　　We will strengthen deterrence so officials daren't be corrupt, strengthen the cage of institutions so they're unable to be corrupt, and strengthen their vigilance so that they have no desire to commit corruption. Our political environment will, through tireless efforts, like seas fallen calm and rivers running clear, be clean and free of corruption. 

　　9．人民群眾反對什么、痛恨什么，我們就要堅決防范和糾正什么。

　　We must guard against and correct with resolve the practices the people oppose and resent.

　　10．我們絕不允許任何人、任何組織、任何政黨、在任何時候、以任何形式、把任何一塊中國領土從中國分裂出去！

　　We will never allow anyone, any organization, or any political party, at any time or in any form, to separate any part of Chinese territory from China.
